“We are living in historic times. With so much upheaval in our country and around the world, I believe it is up to each of us to find ways we can contribute to make our community better.
As a mother and a marriage and family therapist, I’m passionate about finding the issues that matter in my community and doing what I can to help. I have been active in my children’s schools and involved in my professional union, ESC Local 20.
I also know where I came from. I was raised by a maintenance worker mother and an OE3 step-father living in public housing. And when my step-sister took her own life when she was 13 years old and I was 15, it changed the course of my life. After that, I dedicated my education and my professional career to helping people find the beauty in life and the many reasons why life is worth living.
These days, when we’re all so down and struggling to find that silver lining, I can tell you from my own lived experience that it will get better. We have to put the work in. We have to change our lives and our community. Things will turn around.
When I told my kids and my husband that I was being encouraged to run for City Council, they were so excited. They told me I could take my desire to help people and make it so much bigger as a City Council Member. I know my trained ability to listen and bring people together can benefit everyone in our community as we deal with the challenges of police reform, affordable housing, homelessness, city budget, road repairs and our local economy. This is why I have decided to run for Santa Rosa City Council in District 7.
Earning endorsements from local leaders like Supervisor Lynda Hopkins and Vice Mayor Victoria Fleming have been gratifying:
If you believe, like I do, that we can all benefit from a fresh perspective in City Hall, from a unifier and bridge-builder, then I ask for your support. No one can do this job alone, and I need your help as we create this campaign together.
I look forward to taking this journey with you. Please, if you have ideas about how we can improve our community, I want to hear from you. Email me at NatalieRogersforSRCC@gmail.com and let’s get through this, together.”
